James Cameron’s much-anticipated sci-fi epic Avatar: Fire and Ash continues its extraordinary global run, crossing the $1 billion worldwide box office milestone within just 18 days of its release on December 19, 2025.

According to early January 2026 box office estimates, the film has amassed a staggering $1.083 billion globally, reaffirming the enduring appeal of the Avatar franchise across international markets.

Worldwide Box Office Breakdown

Of the film’s total earnings, $777.1 million has come from international markets, while $306 million has been generated from the domestic North American box office.

With this achievement, Avatar: Fire and Ash has become the third film of 2025 to cross the $1 billion mark, following Zootopia 2 and Lilo & Stitch.

Outstanding Performance in India

The film has delivered an impressive performance in India, where it collected approximately ₹168 crore ($18.70 million) within its first 10 days.

This milestone has positioned Avatar: Fire and Ash as the highest-grossing Hollywood film in India for 2025, highlighting strong audience turnout across premium formats including IMAX and 3D.

Top International Markets

China has emerged as the film’s largest overseas market, contributing $138 million so far. Other key international territories include:

  • France: $81 million

  • Germany: $64 million

  • South Korea: $44 million

These figures underline the franchise’s sustained global appeal beyond North America.

Comparison With Previous Avatar Films

Despite its rapid climb to $1 billion, Fire and Ash has reached the milestone slightly slower than its predecessors:

  • Avatar: The Way of Water (2022): $1 billion in 14 days

  • Avatar (2009): $1 billion in 17 days

Even so, Avatar: Fire and Ash currently tops global box office charts, with industry analysts projecting a lifetime worldwide collection exceeding $1.5 billion.
