The social drama Assi, directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Taapsee Pannu, recorded a modest uptick on its third day at the box office, but overall collections remain below industry expectations despite the Sunday advantage.
Day 3 Collection Report
According to early trade estimates available at the time of reporting, Assi collected approximately ₹97 lakh on Day 3 (Sunday).
-
Day 1: ₹1 crore
-
Day 2: ₹1.60 crore
-
Day 3: ₹97 lakh
➡️ Total Collection: ₹3.57 crore (approx.)
While Sunday typically boosts theatrical earnings, the film’s growth remained limited, indicating mixed audience response.
Box Office Clash With Competing Releases
At the box office, Assi is competing with Do Deewane Sehar Mein, which earned about ₹91 lakh on the same day and has reached a slightly higher total of ₹3.66 crore so far.
Despite outperforming its rival in single-day earnings on Sunday, Assi still trails in cumulative revenue. Meanwhile, holdover release O Romeo continues to outperform both titles at the ticket window.
Storyline and Audience Appeal
The film centers on Parima, a schoolteacher portrayed by Kani Kusruti, who survives a traumatic assault and seeks justice. Lawyer Ravi, played by Pannu, takes up her case. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when one of the accused is mysteriously killed by a masked vigilante figure, intensifying the legal and moral stakes.
The film tackles serious social themes, which critics say adds depth but may limit its mass commercial appeal.
Cast and Production Team
Alongside Pannu and Kusruti, the film features performances by Zeeshan Ayyub, Kumud Mishra, and Revathi.
The screenplay is written by Anubhav Sinha and Gaurav Solanki, while producers include Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Sinha.
