Around 400 Unaided Technical Institutions of Punjab today gathered in Mohali for PUTIA’s delegation conference and lodged a strong protest against the unfavourable policies of Punjab Government, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) & Punjab Technical University (PTU). Mr.GPC Nayar (President, All India Unaided Technical Institutions) was the Key note Speaker and Dr.J.S. Dhaliwal (President, PUTIA) presided over the event.
The resolution was passed in the conference that PUTIA would submit memorandum to Govt. of Punjab and all political parties of Punjab. If the State Govt. does not take enough steps to protect the Education Sector of Punjab within week, then PUTIA would again meet on 25th to announce next action plan.
Earlier to that, many Educationists including Ashok Mittal (LPU), Dr.Anshu Kataria (Aryans Group),J.S.Bedi (GJIMT),Manjit Singh (Doaba Group), Manmohan Garg (Gurukul Vidyapeeth) and Satnam Singh Sandhu (CGC, Landran) made presentations on deteriorating health of education sector of Punjab. The various speakers covered different problems related with Punjab Govt., PTU and AICTE.
Manjit Singh, Chairman, Doaba Group while addressing the conference said that the various commercial charges including change of Land use (CLU), External Development Charges (EDC), Commercial Electricity Charges, Commercial Transport Charges, Stamp Duty etc. had immensely burdened these institutes.
Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman,CGC added that Punjab Government instead of supporting the institutes was charging commercial charges of various types. He demanded that the Educational Institutes should be exempted from all type of taxes so that they can survive and maintain high educational standards.
Dr.Anshu Kataria,Chairman,Aryans Group said that PTU corpus fund should be used for the betterment of Technical Education in Punjab instead of starting new Engineering and Technical Colleges. If Govt. does not come forward to protect the Industry, the Institutes would die their own death.
Many renowned Educational Groups including Rayat & Bahra, SAS Mohali, SUS Tangori, Quest, Sukhmani, SVIET, Sri Sai, Gulzar, Baba Farid, Adesh, Aryabhatta, Bhai Gurdas, Indo Global Colleges participated in the conference.
