An Experiment with Visual Poetry – Artist Rama Pandey Recited Poetry

Multi-faceted artist Rama showcased her creative expertise behind camera through an evening of visual poetry held at the India International Center. The event was ably supported by The Poetry Society (India).

The program titled ‘Akhiyon Ke Jaharoke Se’ was basically an experiment with visual poetry. The event featured well-known theatre and television artist Rama Pandey reciting the best of her visual poetry leaving the audience in awe and appreciation.

Rama Pandey who has seen the turmoil in Kashmir closely depicted the pain through her poetry and songs. She said that the people of Kashmir are exploited on both sides of the border. “My poetry revolves around challenges in the society. A lot of literature doesn’t get recognition because it doesn’t get the necessary support despite getting appreciation. My poetry revolves around challenges in the society. I have seen the devastation in Kashimir. I believe listening to poetry is as important as publishing them.”

The Poetry Society (India) is a voluntary organisation that looks after the interest of the Indian Poets. It conducts seminars, workshops, reading and publication of poetry and also conducts all-India level competitions.

Stressing the need to promote poetry, well-known poet Bal Swaroop Rahi who was the chairing the evening said, “The Poetry Society (India) is doing a great service to poetry. A poet can only write but without a stage it cannot reach out to people. I thank The Poetry Society (India) for providing such a platform.”

H. K Kaul of The Poetry Society (India); MLA and ex Law Minister of the Delhi Govt., Somnath Bharti; Vice Chairman of Sindhi Academy, G. Gehani; Kusum Ansal, Director of Kusumanjali Foundation; Badal Khan, President, Labours’ Union  were also present on the occasion among other well-known personalities from the field of art & culture.
