New Delhi — In a move that could redefine the future of electric bikes, e-bike manufacturer Amperle has launched its latest models, the Nova and Nova Pro, with a feature no one saw coming — USB-C charging directly from a laptop charger. Yes, you read that right.

For the first time in the electric bike industry, you can plug in your e-bike just like a smartphone or MacBook, thanks to an integrated USB-C PD 3.1 port on the bike’s frame. The bikes are now available for pre-order in the UK, EU, and Switzerland, with deliveries set to roll out from June 2025.

🔌 Charge Your Bike Like a Gadget

Gone are the days of bulky proprietary chargers. Amperle’s Nova series bikes feature a 48V 336 Wh battery that can fully charge in just three hours with a compatible USB-C charger — significantly faster than the usual 5–6 hour cycle for this battery size.

And it gets better: the bikes have been tested with IKEA and MacBook chargers — making them the ultimate companions for urban riders and digital nomads. Planning to ride and charge your phone on the go? The same USB-C port also supports charging external devices — though this feature is currently available only in Europe.

Amperle promises that if a buyer doesn’t have a compatible charger, the company will provide a 140W USB-C PD 3.1 charger named Ampere 80.

🚴‍♂️ Smart, Sleek, and Green

These smart bikes are part of a growing trend toward green, accessible mobility. And Amperle isn’t just thinking about design — it’s building infrastructure. The company has established service centers in Germany and Ampere Friendly Workshops across Europe, making after-sales support smooth and accessible.

Each bike comes with a two-year warranty and a 14-day return policy, pushing customer confidence as the company enters an increasingly competitive European market.

🌍 Global Relevance, Local Problem?

While these bikes are a hit in Europe, Indian and other Asian consumers might ask: When will we see such innovation here? The demand for electric bikes is rising rapidly in India, but charging infrastructure remains a roadblock. If USB-C becomes the universal charging standard for e-bikes, it could potentially revolutionize last-mile mobility even in developing nations.
