Akshaya Patra Serves Food to the Flood-Affected People

As a part of the relief efforts, the Foundation has already served 20,000 people in the district

In the aftermath of heavy rains and resultant floods in Dharwad, Karnataka, The Akshaya Patra Foundation has endeavoured to provide essential food relief to the distraught citizens of the district at the administration’s request. Over the last six days, Akshaya Patra has already served over 2,50,000 freshly cooked meals to more than 20,000 people in the district. For breakfast, people are being provided freshly cooked upma and kesari bath, while rice, sambar and pickle were served for lunch and dinner.

 

The food is being prepared at the Foundation’s centralised kitchen in Hubballi and transported to the affected areas through Akshaya Patra delivery vehicles. Akshaya Patra will continue to work with the local administration and aid their flood relief efforts in Dharwad until the situation improves.
