Reports have emerged suggesting that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is teaming up with Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a mystery thriller tentatively titled The Ghost.
Aamir Khan had previously confirmed discussions with Lokesh Kanagaraj for a large-scale superhero action film. However, recent reports describe the project as a mystery thriller, with The Ghost mentioned as a possible title.
The current status remains unclear. Lokesh Kanagaraj reportedly indicated during a press conference in Chennai that talks with Aamir Khan are currently on hold, as developments have not progressed as expected.
If the project moves forward, shooting is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, likely August or September, as Lokesh is occupied with Kaithi 2 and other commitments.
Industry observers note that the potential collaboration represents one of the biggest Bollywood-Kollywood crossovers to date, combining Lokesh’s fast-paced storytelling style with Aamir Khan’s reputation for depth and perfectionism. Sources suggest Aamir aims to bring a serious, distinctive approach to the superhero genre in Indian cinema if elements of the original vision are retained.
On other projects, Aamir Khan has clarified that PK 2 is not in development and remains a rumor. He has confirmed working with Rajkumar Hirani on a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema.
