Bengaluru, India — May 25, 2026

PM Modi Security Breach concerns intensified after six police personnel were suspended in connection with the recovery of suspected explosive material near a venue visited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bengaluru earlier this month.

The disciplinary action was ordered by the Superintendent of Police of Bengaluru South (Ramanagara) following allegations of negligence during security deployment for the Prime Minister’s May 10 visit to the city.

Officials confirmed that the suspended personnel include one Police Sub-Inspector (PSI), one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), and four constables. All six officers will remain suspended pending the completion of the investigation.

The incident had triggered major concern among security agencies because the suspicious materials were discovered while the Prime Minister was in Bengaluru for a high-profile public event.

Suspicious Explosive Material Found Near Event Venue

According to police officials, the suspicious items were recovered near Kanakapura Road from an unpaved stretch adjacent to a forested area, approximately 20 feet away from the roadside.

The recovered materials reportedly included:

  • Two gelatin sticks
  • Six incense sticks
  • Matchboxes
  • Cellophane tape
  • Battery packs
  • Electrical wires
  • Circuit boards

The discovery immediately prompted a heightened security response from local police and central security agencies due to the sensitive nature of the Prime Minister’s visit.

Authorities said the suspicious items were found roughly 90 minutes before Prime Minister Modi was scheduled to arrive at the nearby event venue.

PM Modi Was Attending Art of Living Celebration

Prime Minister Modi had traveled to Bengaluru to participate in the 45th anniversary celebrations of the Art of Living Foundation and the 70th birthday event of spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

The event drew a large gathering, making security arrangements especially critical.

Given the Prime Minister’s presence and the scale of the event, multiple security agencies had already placed the area under high alert before the suspicious materials were discovered.

FIR Registered Under Explosives Act

Following the recovery, the Kaggalipura Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under provisions of the Explosive Substances Act and the Explosives Act.

Officials said the case was filed under:

  • Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act
  • Section 9B of the Explosives Act

These provisions deal with possession, handling, or attempted use of explosive materials with the potential to endanger life or property.

Investigators are currently examining whether the recovered items were intended for any harmful activity or if they were abandoned for another reason.

No Arrests Yet, Source of Explosives Still Unknown

Despite ongoing investigations, police have not yet made any arrests in the case. Authorities also stated that the origin of the recovered explosive materials remains unidentified.

Sources familiar with the probe said investigators are reviewing CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and local intelligence inputs to trace those responsible.

A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also traveled from New Delhi to Bengaluru to assist local authorities with the investigation due to the serious security implications surrounding the Prime Minister’s visit.

Security Protocols Under Scrutiny

The PM Modi Security Breach case has once again placed focus on VIP security protocols in India, particularly during high-profile public appearances involving national leaders.

Security experts note that any lapse near the movement route or event venue of the Prime Minister is treated as a matter of national concern. The suspension of six police personnel indicates that authorities are taking the incident seriously while the investigation continues.

Officials have not yet disclosed whether additional disciplinary measures or operational changes could follow based on the findings of the inquiry.

Investigation Continues Amid Heightened Security Concerns

Authorities said forensic analysis and intelligence coordination are ongoing, and further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation.

The incident has drawn widespread attention because of the timing and location of the recovery, occurring close to a venue hosting one of India’s most heavily protected public officials.

As the probe continues, security agencies remain focused on determining whether the recovered materials posed a genuine threat and identifying those responsible for placing them near the event site.
