NEW DELHI, INDIA — May 23, 2026

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has launched the fee refund process for NEET-UG 2026 candidates, offering relief to lakhs of medical aspirants affected by the cancellation of this year’s undergraduate medical entrance examination.

In an official notice released on Friday, the agency announced that candidates can now submit their bank account details through a dedicated online facility available on the official registration portal. The window for submitting refund information will remain open until May 27, 2026, at 11:50 PM.

The move comes after the NEET-UG 2026 examination, originally scheduled for May 3, was canceled following allegations of irregularities and procedural lapses.

NTA Releases Official Refund Instructions

According to the agency, candidates must log in to the official NEET-UG portal and access the “Fee Refund” section to complete the process.

Students are required to provide:

  • Account holder’s name
  • Bank name
  • Account number
  • IFSC code

To avoid errors during verification, candidates may also upload a scanned copy of a canceled cheque.

The NTA emphasized that all bank details should be entered carefully to ensure smooth processing of refunds.

No Changes Allowed After Submission

The agency clarified that once bank information is submitted, it will be treated as final and cannot be modified later.

Candidates have also been advised not to initiate any chargeback requests related to the original examination fee payment, as refunds will be processed directly by the agency.

The notification aims to streamline the refund process and avoid complications during payment verification.

NEET-UG 2026 Retest Scheduled for June 21

The NEET-UG 2026 examination was canceled ahead of its scheduled May 3 conduct after allegations of exam-related irregularities surfaced, triggering nationwide concern among students and parents.

Following the controversy, India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that a fresh examination would be conducted on June 21, 2026.

The NTA has already confirmed that candidates appearing for the retest will not be required to pay any additional examination fee. The previously paid application fee will be refunded to all eligible candidates separately.

Students Await Fresh Exam Process

The announcement has brought temporary relief to students preparing for one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations. However, many aspirants continue to closely monitor further updates regarding admit cards, revised exam guidelines, and security arrangements for the retest.

NEET-UG serves as the gateway for admission into undergraduate medical programs across India and is taken annually by millions of students.
