Bankura, West Bengal, India — April 19, 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp political attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Indian National Congress while addressing an election rally in Bankura, intensifying the campaign ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
In a strongly worded speech, PM Modi accused both parties of being “anti-women” and claimed they had opposed measures aimed at increasing women’s participation in politics.
Strong Attack on TMC Government
Addressing a large gathering, PM Modi said public anger against the TMC government was visible across the state. He described the administration as “ruthless” and alleged that people were seeking change.
The Prime Minister emphasized that his party stands for women’s empowerment, safety, and participation in governance. He stated that increasing women’s representation in politics is essential for the country’s development.
Allegations Over Women’s Reservation
PM Modi further alleged that the TMC had “colluded” with Congress to block the women’s reservation bill, accusing both parties of working against the interests of women.
He also criticized their stance during the presidential election, referring to opposition against Droupadi Murmu, and alleged that both parties have ignored tribal interests.
‘Last Warning’ Statement Before Results
In one of the most striking remarks of the rally, PM Modi issued a warning directed at alleged TMC-linked elements.
He said individuals involved in wrongdoing should surrender to authorities before the election results are declared on May 4, stating that strict action would follow thereafter.
Welfare Promises for Women
Highlighting welfare measures, PM Modi outlined several promises if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forms the government in West Bengal:
- Financial support of up to ₹1.5 lakh for housing under PMAY
- Free healthcare coverage up to ₹5 lakh
- Free dialysis treatment in government hospitals
- Annual financial assistance of ₹36,000 for women
- ₹21,000 support for pregnant women
- Additional benefits for daughters’ education
- Loans up to ₹20 lakh under the Mudra scheme for self-employment

He said these initiatives aim to strengthen women economically and socially across the state.
