Tata Motors EV Launch: New Electric Car With 550 km Range Starts at ₹14.99 Lakh, Bookings Open

New Delhi, April 5, 2026

Tata Motors has opened bookings for its new affordable electric vehicle (EV), aiming to disrupt India’s rapidly growing EV market with a claimed driving range of up to 550 kilometers on a single charge.

The company’s latest offering is being positioned as a “game-changer” in the segment, combining long-range capability with competitive pricing and premium features.

Battery and Driving Range

The EV is powered by a 60 kWh battery pack, which delivers an ARAI-certified range of 550 km under standard testing conditions. Real-world driving conditions are expected to offer a practical range of approximately 450–480 km, depending on usage patterns and road conditions.

Competitive Pricing Strategy

Tata Motors has priced the vehicle at a starting ₹14.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable long-range EVs in the Indian market.

Industry analysts say the pricing could significantly accelerate EV adoption, especially among first-time buyers looking for a balance between range and cost.

Fast Charging Capability

The car supports DC fast charging, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 40 minutes, enhancing its usability for long-distance travel and urban commuting alike.

Advanced Features and Technology

The new EV comes equipped with a range of premium features, including:

  • 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 360-degree camera
  • Ventilated seats
  • Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)

These features position the vehicle competitively against both domestic and international EV offerings.

Booking and Delivery Timeline

Customers can book the vehicle through authorized dealerships or the company’s official website by paying a ₹21,000 token amount.

Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of next month, according to company estimates.

Market Impact

India’s EV market has been expanding rapidly, driven by rising fuel prices, government incentives, and growing environmental awareness. Tata Motors has been a dominant player in the segment, and this latest launch is likely to further strengthen its position.
