New Delhi, India – March 6, 2026
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a major operation early Friday morning, conducting coordinated searches at approximately 10 to 12 locations in Mumbai and Hyderabad linked to industrialist Anil Ambani‘s Reliance Power Limited and associated entities.
According to official sources and multiple reports, around 15 ED teams are involved in the raids as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The probe centers on alleged bank fraud, suspicious financial transactions, fund diversions, and irregularities involving multiple companies in the Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group.
The searches target premises connected to Reliance Power Ltd., a key group company, and individuals associated with it. Authorities are examining records related to financial dealings, potential loan misuse, and other transactions flagged in the broader probe against the group.
This development follows recent ED actions, including the provisional attachment of Anil Ambani’s upscale Mumbai residence ‘Abode’ in Pali Hill (valued at over ₹3,700 crore) in a related case, and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine alleged fraud amounting to tens of thousands of crores across group entities like Reliance Communications, Reliance Infrastructure, and others.
The ED has been actively investigating the Anil Ambani Group for several years, with prior attachments of properties worth thousands of crores, arrests of executives, and probes into fake bank guarantees, loan diversions, and non-performing assets declared as fraud by lenders.
No official arrests or specific recoveries have been reported from today’s raids so far, and the searches remain ongoing. The agency has not issued a formal detailed statement, but sources confirm the focus is on gathering evidence of money laundering linked to alleged bank fraud.
The raids highlight continued regulatory scrutiny on corporate financial practices in India’s power and infrastructure sectors. Reliance Power and group representatives have not issued an immediate public response.
As the investigation progresses, further details on seized documents, digital evidence, or potential summons are expected. This case remains part of a larger enforcement effort targeting economic offenses involving high-profile business groups.
