U.S. President Donald Trump said the ongoing military conflict involving Iran could continue for up to four more weeks, as U.S. and Israel forces intensify operations across West Asia.
In a video message released amid escalating hostilities, Trump stated that military action would continue “until strong objectives are fully achieved,” signaling that Washington does not expect an immediate de-escalation.
Escalation After 36 Hours of Strikes
According to official statements, the past 36 hours have seen coordinated strikes targeting multiple Iranian military sites. U.S. officials described the campaign as one of the most complex operations undertaken in recent years.
Trump referred to the mission as “Operation Epic Fury,” stating that hundreds of targets were hit, including facilities linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and air defense systems.
He also claimed that nine Iranian naval vessels and associated infrastructure were destroyed within minutes during the operation.
Reports Surrounding Iran’s Leadership
During his address, Trump stated that Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had died amid the attacks — a development that, if confirmed, would mark a significant turning point in the conflict. Independent verification of such claims remains limited as regional information flows remain constrained.
Trump further alleged that several Iranian military officials were seeking to surrender amid sustained air operations.
“A Fight for Security,” Trump Says
In his remarks, Trump framed the campaign as a matter of national and global security rather than territorial ambition.
“This is not a war for power. It is a fight for justice and security,” he said, adding that U.S. and allied forces were responding decisively after American troops were killed in prior incidents.
The president acknowledged casualties among U.S. service members, confirming that three American soldiers were killed and five injured in earlier attacks. He warned that additional losses could occur as the operation continues.
Appeal to Iranian People
Trump concluded his message by appealing directly to Iranian citizens and members of the country’s armed forces, urging them to lay down their weapons and “choose a different path.”
He emphasized that the United States remains committed to protecting its forces and allies while pursuing what he described as clearly defined military objectives.
How Long Could the Conflict Last?
Trump suggested the conflict may continue for approximately four more weeks, depending on operational progress and strategic outcomes.
Military analysts note that the duration of hostilities will likely depend on several factors, including regional responses, diplomatic engagement, and the stability of key institutions inside Iran.
With tensions remaining high across West Asia, global leaders are closely monitoring developments that could reshape regional security dynamics and international relations.
