New Delhi, India – February 23, 2026
The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in India’s Lok Sabha and Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday released a video statement targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the Prime Minister’s name, along with that of his ministers and associates, appeared in what he referred to as the “Epstein files.”
In the video shared on social media platform X, Gandhi described the alleged association as “a matter of shame” and raised broader concerns about governance, trade policy, and corporate accountability.
मोदी जी, आप शर्म की बात करते हो? शर्म की बात मैं आपको बताता हूं।
Epstein files में आपका, आपके मंत्री और आपके मित्र का साथ में नाम आना, ऐसे घिनौने अपराधी के साथ आपका नाम जुड़ा होना – ये शर्म की बात है।

Allegations Raised in Video
In his statement, Gandhi questioned the Prime Minister over the alleged mention of his name in connection with documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, a U.S.-based financier whose case has drawn global attention. Gandhi claimed that such an association would be deeply concerning and demanded accountability.
He also criticized a recent trade agreement between India and the United States, alleging that it compromised national interests. Additionally, Gandhi accused the government of mishandling farmers’ concerns and damaging the textile industry.
Adani Case and Political Response
Gandhi further referenced ongoing legal proceedings in the United States involving Indian businessman Gautam Adani, claiming the matter had political and financial implications. He alleged that no significant domestic action had been taken for over a year.
He also mentioned industrialist Anil Ambani while asserting that the Congress party would continue to oppose the government’s policies.
There was no immediate response from the Prime Minister’s Office or the Bharatiya Janata Party at the time of publication.
The developments mark another escalation in political tensions between the ruling party and the opposition Congress ahead of key national debates.
