New Delhi, India — February 19, 2026
Mukesh Ambani unveiled one of the largest tech investment plans in India’s history, pledging ₹10 lakh crore over seven years to build data centers, green-powered computing, and nationwide AI access.
He said AI’s future must be inclusive, not exclusive, and promised that Reliance and Jio will work to make artificial intelligence as affordable and accessible as mobile data is today.
Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, announced a massive ₹10 lakh crore ($120+ billion approx.) investment plan to accelerate India’s artificial intelligence transformation over the next seven years, emphasizing affordable, accessible AI for all citizens.
Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Ambani said the world is standing at a technological crossroads where AI could either concentrate power in the hands of a few or democratize opportunity globally.
AI’s Next Phase Yet to Come
Ambani stated that the most impactful phase of artificial intelligence is still ahead, adding that the technology has the potential to reshape industries, governance, and economic systems worldwide.
He framed today’s global AI debate as a choice between:
-
Expensive, limited-access AI controlled by a few
-
Affordable, widely available AI that empowers everyone
He said Reliance aims to help drive the second path.
₹10 Lakh Crore Investment Commitment
Ambani announced that Jio and Reliance will jointly invest ₹10 lakh crore in India’s AI ecosystem over the next seven years. He stressed the investment is designed not for short-term valuation gains but for:
-
Long-term nation-building
-
Economic strength
-
Strategic technological independence
He added that just as Jio helped make mobile data affordable across India, the group intends to reduce AI costs and expand access nationwide.
Three-Tier Strategy for India’s AI Infrastructure
Ambani outlined a national-scale strategy built on three pillars:
1. Gigawatt-Scale AI Data Centers
Large AI-ready facilities will be constructed to support high-performance computing and large-scale model deployment.
2. Green Energy–Powered Compute
AI infrastructure will run on renewable energy to ensure sustainability and long-term scalability.
3. Nationwide Edge Computing Layer
Integration with Jio’s network will create distributed edge nodes across India, delivering low-latency AI services closer to users.
He confirmed that construction of a multi-gigawatt AI-ready data center in Jamnagar is already underway, with 120 megawatts of capacity expected online by the second half of 2026.
‘Jio AI Bharat’ Multilingual Initiative
Ambani also announced Jio AI Bharat, a multilingual AI platform designed to operate across Indian languages so farmers, artisans, students, and small businesses can access technology in their native tongues.
He emphasized that AI will not eliminate jobs but will instead create new skill-based employment opportunities and help position India among the world’s leading AI powers in the 21st century.
