DELHI, India — February 2, 2026

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for fog and haze across Delhi on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as a western disturbance continues to affect the region’s weather pattern.

After recent rainfall and a sharp return of cold conditions, dense fog is likely to reduce visibility, particularly during morning hours. Maximum temperatures are forecast to remain between 19-21 degrees Celsius, with minimums around 7-9 degrees Celsius. Light fog is expected in many areas, while some pockets may experience dense fog.

This February has recorded the lowest temperatures since 2022. Previous years saw monthly average maximums of 28.2 degrees Celsius in 2023, 24.4 degrees in 2024, and 26.7 degrees in 2025.

Dense fog began enveloping the city late Sunday night, impacting visibility on Monday morning. Strong, chilly winds further intensified the cold, forcing residents to seek warmth around bonfires despite brief sunshine during the day. Monday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 17.5 degrees Celsius—a drop of 7.1 degrees from the previous day—while the minimum stood at 10.4 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels ranged from 100 percent to 54 percent.

Station-wise minimum temperatures included 11.4 degrees Celsius at Ridge, 13.3 degrees at Aya Nagar, 11.2 degrees at Lodhi Road, and 10.7 degrees at Palam.

The IMD forecasts little change over the next six days. From February 3 to 8, 2026, skies will remain partly cloudy with light to moderate morning fog. Maximum temperatures are likely to range between 20-22 degrees Celsius on February 4-5, rising to 21-24 degrees on February 6-7, when surface winds may reach 20-30 km/h. Morning fog and partial cloud cover are expected to continue through February 8.
