After years in development limbo, Shahid Kapoor’s ambitious film ‘Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues’ is finally moving forward. According to industry sources, Shahid has locked his dates for the project, with filming scheduled to begin in May 2026 across Dubai and Poland.
The film is being described as India’s biggest mythological–science fiction spectacle and could mark a turning point for large-scale Indian fantasy cinema.
Scale and Vision of the Film
Mythology Meets Future Sci-Fi:
Inspired by the immortal warrior Ashwatthama from the Mahabharata, the film connects ancient mythology with a futuristic timeline, exploring how an immortal being survives and functions in the modern age of Kalyug.
After Kalki 2898 AD, Ashwatthama is being positioned as India’s next major visual spectacle with global storytelling ambitions.
Mega Budget Production:
Backed by Pooja Entertainment (Vashu Bhagnani), the film reportedly carries a budget exceeding ₹500 crore, placing it among the most expensive Indian films ever made.

Filming Begins May 2026:
Pre-production is already underway, with Shahid Kapoor committing his full schedule to the film from May onward.
