Delhi Traffic Police Issues Detailed Advisory for New Year’s Eve
Delhi Traffic Police has released a detailed traffic advisory for the evening of December 31, 2025, ahead of New Year 2026 celebrations. With large crowds expected across central Delhi, authorities have planned multiple road closures and traffic diversions to ensure public safety and smooth movement.
The advisory is part of the Delhi Police’s comprehensive preparations for New Year’s Eve, especially around popular celebration hubs such as Connaught Place and India Gate.
Connaught Place Closed to Vehicles From 7 PM
As per the advisory, entry of all vehicles into Connaught Place will be prohibited from 7:00 PM on December 31. The restriction will remain in force until New Year celebrations conclude.
The vehicle ban will apply to all private and public transport, including cars, two-wheelers, taxis, buses, and app-based cabs. Only authorized emergency and security vehicles will be allowed during this period.
Major Roads to Face Closures and Diversions
Due to anticipated heavy footfall, several key roads leading to and around Connaught Place are expected to be closed or diverted. Delhi Traffic Police has urged commuters to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel in central Delhi, and follow official traffic updates and on-ground instructions.
People planning to celebrate New Year 2026 in Connaught Place or near India Gate are advised to plan their travel in advance and consider using alternative routes or public transport.
