Beijing |  December 30, 2025 —

China on Tuesday imposed sanctions on 20 American defense companies and 10 senior US officials in response to Washington’s large-scale arms sales to Taiwan, calling the move a violation of the One-China policy and warning of further consequences.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the sanctions were implemented under China’s Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law and are effective immediately. Officials stated that the targeted companies and individuals had played a role in supplying arms to Taiwan over the past few years.

Targeted Companies

Among the 20 defense firms sanctioned are Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation, L3Harris Maritime Services, Boeing (St. Louis), Gibbs & Cox, VSE Corporation, Red Cat Holdings, Teal Drone, ReconCraft, Epirus, and Blue Force Technologies. All assets of these companies in China will be frozen, and Chinese entities and citizens are prohibited from engaging in business or cooperation with them.

Sanctioned Officials

The sanctions extend to 10 senior US defense officials, including Palmer Luckey, founder of Anduril Industries. Their assets in China will be blocked, and they are barred from conducting any business or activities tied to China.

Beijing’s Position

China’s foreign ministry emphasized that the Taiwan arms sales are a “serious violation” of the One-China policy and bilateral agreements with the United States. A ministry spokesperson stated that Taiwan is a core national interest and a “clear red line” in China-US relations, asserting that no country can challenge China’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Beijing also called on Washington to honor its commitments, halt arms transfers to Taiwan, and avoid actions that escalate tensions in the Taiwan Strait. The ministry warned that failure to comply would result in “firm and decisive measures.”
