As North India enters the final week of December, winter conditions have intensified across the region. According to the latest Weather Forecast for December 22, 2025, the activation of a strong Western Disturbance has triggered widespread snowfall in hill states, dense fog in plains, and cold day conditions across several regions.
🏔️ Heavy Snowfall Warning in Hill States
The higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh continue to witness heavy snowfall and rainfall, with meteorological agencies warning of further accumulation. The onset of Chilla-i-Kalan, the harsh 40-day winter phase in Kashmir, has begun to show its impact.
In Himachal Pradesh, districts such as Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, and Kinnaur are likely to experience snowfall accompanied by snowstorms, reducing visibility to below 400 meters.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand’s higher altitudes may receive light snowfall, while frost conditions are expected in lower regions.
🌫️ Cold Day and Dense Fog in Plains
Severe winter conditions prevail across the plains of Punjab and Haryana, where dense fog continues to disrupt daily life and transportation.
Gurdaspur (Punjab): Minimum temperature at 6.8°C
Narnaul (Haryana): Minimum temperature dropped to 5.2°C
In Rajasthan, temperatures have seen a slight rise, but Sikar and Churu districts continue to record nighttime temperatures near 9°C, with persistent morning haze.
🌁 Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh Weather Update
Delhi-NCR experienced moderate to dense fog on Monday morning, with visibility reduced to 200–300 meters. The national capital recorded a minimum temperature close to 9°C, keeping cold conditions intact.
In Uttar Pradesh, winter conditions remain most severe. Weather authorities have issued red and orange alerts for more than 40 districts due to extremely dense fog.
Eastern UP: Severe cold and fog likely to persist until December 23
Western UP: Temperatures may drop by an additional 3–5°C after December 24
