Congress Ramps Up ‘Vote Theft’ Allegations with Major Protest Rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan

New Delhi, December 14, 2025 : The Congress party on Sunday intensified its campaign against what it calls alleged election manipulation, organizing a major protest rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. The demonstration is aimed at highlighting claims of “vote chori” (vote theft) and demanding accountability from both the Central government and the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, are expected to address the rally, accusing the ruling establishment of collusion in influencing electoral outcomes. The party alleges irregularities in recent elections and has called for greater transparency in the conduct of polls and the functioning of electoral institutions.

Congress leaders claim that democratic processes are being undermined and insist that public trust in elections can only be restored through independent scrutiny and institutional accountability. The rally marks a significant escalation in the party’s nationwide political outreach ahead of upcoming electoral battles.

The protest follows events on December 13, when Congress leaders paid tributes on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, honoring security personnel who lost their lives defending India’s democratic institutions. Party leaders linked the remembrance to their current campaign, stating that protecting democracy remains a shared responsibility.

Meanwhile, top constitutional authorities, including  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Members of Parliament, also paid homage to the martyrs of the 2001 attack, carried out by Pakistan-based terrorists. Official ceremonies were held at Parliament to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the security forces.

The Congress rally has drawn significant political attention, with the party framing it as a fight to safeguard democratic values, while the government has rejected the allegations as politically motivated. Security arrangements have been tightened across central Delhi in view of the large gathering.
