Delhi Red Fort Blast: PM Modi Meets Victims, NIA Links Terror Plot to Masood Azhar-Led JeM

New Delhi, November 12, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the LNJP Hospital on Tuesday afternoon to meet victims injured in the Red Fort car blast, which has left 12 people dead and over two dozen critically wounded. The Prime Minister also interacted with family members of the deceased and assured full government support for their treatment and rehabilitation.

According to officials, Modi’s visit followed a high-level security review at the Prime Minister’s Office earlier in the day, where intelligence and counter-terrorism agencies briefed him on the evolving situation.

NIA Takes Over Probe, Finds JeM Connection

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally taken charge of the case, uncovering evidence linking the attack to a Pakistan-based terror module affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and its founder Masood Azhar. Preliminary investigations suggest that the group planned multiple coordinated blasts, drawing parallels to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks (26/11) in scale and coordination.

Investigators believe the attackers aimed to target multiple landmarks across the National Capital Region. Key arrests have been made in Jammu & Kashmir and Assam, where suspects are being interrogated for their alleged involvement in the financing and logistical support of the operation.

A senior NIA official, requesting anonymity, stated, “Digital forensics and intercepted communications point to cross-border handlers coordinating with sleeper cells inside India. The module was sophisticated and well-funded.”

Security Tightened Across Delhi

Following the blast, security has been heightened across the capital, particularly around major monuments, markets, and transportation hubs. Additional paramilitary forces and NSG commandos have been deployed near the Red Fort complex and central Delhi zones.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora confirmed that forensic teams recovered RDX traces from the blast site, consistent with previous JeM-style attacks. CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being analyzed to identify the vehicles and operatives involved.

Nationwide Crackdown and Global Condemnation

As the NIA intensifies its operations, coordinated raids are underway in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and West Bengal to dismantle the larger network. The Ministry of Home Affairs has also issued a nationwide alert to all state police chiefs.

World leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden and U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, have condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism.

PM Modi’s Message

Addressing reporters after his hospital visit, Prime Minister Modi said,

“India will not bow down to terror. Those behind this cowardly act will face the full force of the law. Every life lost is a wound to our nation’s soul.”

The NIA is expected to brief the Prime Minister again within the next 48 hours as the investigation progresses.
