BSNL Set for 5G Upgrade: Telecom Minister Scindia Confirms Timeline

BSNL Towers to Get 5G Upgrade Within 6–8 Months

New Delhi: Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that BSNL’s indigenous 4G network will be upgraded to 5G over the next six to eight months.

Speaking at the Kautilya Economic Enclave 2025 event, Scindia highlighted that India has successfully joined the global 4G technology club. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 92,564 telecom towers, connecting the entire country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Bharuch to Arunachal Pradesh.

Scindia further emphasized India’s growing global presence, stating that the country has become a pillar of the global South, with a 7.8 percent GDP growth in the first quarter of the financial year 2025–26.

The upcoming 5G upgrade of BSNL towers is expected to significantly enhance internet speed and connectivity across India, boosting both digital infrastructure and economic growth.
