US President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the brutal murder of Indian-origin motel manager Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiya, allegedly killed by a Cuban immigrant with a prior criminal record. The incident has reignited fierce debate over immigration policies and border security in America.
Trump: “Time Over for Soft Approach”
Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump described the accused as an illegal alien who should have been deported years ago. He directly blamed Joe Biden’s immigration policies, saying they allowed dangerous criminals to remain in the US.
“Rest assured, the time for leniency towards these illegal immigrant criminals under my administration is over,” Trump wrote. He further promised strict action under the leadership of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Border Czar Tom Homan to ensure the safety of Americans.
Trump called the murder of Nagamallaiya, who was beheaded in front of his wife and 18-year-old son, “horrific and unforgivable.”
The Murder in Dallas
The tragic incident occurred on September 10, 2025, at the Downtown Suites Motel in Dallas, where Nagamallaiya lived and worked. He was attacked by 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a Cuban immigrant with previous arrests for child abuse, car theft, and false imprisonment.
The accused was released in January 2025 after Cuba refused to accept his deportation, according to US immigration officials. He has now been charged with murder and faces prosecution under Trump’s administration.
Grief in the Indian-American Community
Nagamallaiya, originally from Karnataka, India, was well-respected in the local community. His funeral was held on September 13 in Flower Mound, Texas, attended by close family and friends.
A fundraising campaign launched to support his family has raised over US $321,326, reflecting the shock and solidarity of the Indian-American community.
Immigration Policy Debate Reignites
The murder has intensified discussions around US immigration enforcement and the challenges authorities face when countries refuse to accept deportees. Trump’s firm stance signals a tougher crackdown on illegal immigration as he continues to push his administration’s law-and-order agenda
