The air quality of Delhi NCR, which has been at dangerous levels for the last several months, has started improving. Due to this, the Supreme Court has allowed relaxation in some restrictions of GRAP 4 imposed in Delhi. The Supreme Court asked the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) not to relax restrictions below GRAP 2. Also consider adding some measures in GRAP 3. On November 18, the apex court had directed all Delhi-NCR states to immediately form teams to strictly enforce the anti-pollution GRAP 4 restrictions. The court had made it clear that the restrictions would continue till further orders.
The Supreme Court had imposed several restrictions under GRAP 4. In this, no truck was being allowed to enter Delhi except the trucks carrying essential goods or using clean fuel (LNG/CNG/BS-VI diesel/electric). Light commercial vehicles registered outside Delhi, except electric vehicles (EVs), CNG vehicles and BS-VI diesel vehicles, were also under the ban. All construction activities, including highways, roads, bridges and other public projects, were temporarily stopped.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Wednesday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 178, which is in the moderate category.

Earlier, on October 10, the AQI was recorded at 164. After this, with the onset of winter, the air condition deteriorated.
