Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former CM Arvind Kejriwal said that registration will start soon under the Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana to give a monthly honorarium of Rs 1,000 to women in Delhi. Speaking about the scheme during the AAP’s Padyatra campaign, Kejriwal said that the applicant woman should be a registered voter of Delhi.

In its budget for the financial year 2024-25 presented in March, the AAP-led government had announced the Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana, promising to pay Rs 1,000 per month to every eligible woman above the age of 18 with an outlay of Rs 2,000 crore.

In the padyatra, Kejriwal told the women, “I am working for you…soon Rs 1,000 (per month) will be deposited in your accounts. The registration process for the scheme will start very soon. But there is only one condition.

The applicant should be a registered voter in Delhi. Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the former Delhi chief minister said the party has governments in 22 states, yet it is unable to provide free and uninterrupted electricity, good schools or quality healthcare to people in any of these states.

Kejriwal focused on six free facilities being given by the AAP-led government. Trying to corner the BJP on the issue, Kejriwal said what the opposition party is calling “free revdi” are nothing but free facilities being given to the people from their own tax money.
