Dehradun – The doors of the world famous Gangotri Dham were closed for winter on Saturday at 12:14 pm on the occasion of Annakoot festival. After the doors are closed, now for six months, Maa Ganga will give darshan to the devotees in the Ganga temple located in Mukhaba in her maternal home Mukhimath. The festive palanquin of Maa Ganga has left for Mukhimath on Saturday, which will reach the winter stop Mukhaba. Today, on the occasion of the closing of the doors of Gangotri Dham, a large number of devotees were present in the Dham. Gangotri Dham resounded with the chants of Har-Har Gange… Jai Maa Gange.
Suresh Semwal, Secretary of Shri Panch Gangotri Temple Committee, said that the process of closing the doors of Gangotri Dham of Maa Bhagwati Ganga was started with Deepotsav on Friday. He said that Maa Ganga’s Utsav Doli left for Mukhimath on Saturday. Maa Ganga’s Doli will rest for the night at Markande temple, three kilometers before Mukhimath.
On 3 November Sunday, on Bhaiya Dooj, Maa Ganga’s Doli will reach Mukhimath village, then Maa Ganga’s Utsav idol will be brought to the winter stop Mukhaba with the Doli Yatra. In this way, now till winter, devotees will be able to see Maa Ganga in her maternal home Mukhimath. Maa Ganga will be worshipped here for six months.
