Ganja smuggler arrested with 50 kg of ganja

Three ganja smugglers were arrested in Assam’s Silchar town on Tuesday, an official said, adding that 50 kg of ganja was also recovered from their possession. The arrested people have been identified as Sikandar Kumar, Dharmendra Kumar and Armaan Semai, who are residents of Patna. On Tuesday morning, the trio were roaming near Hanuman temple adjacent to a flyover in Tarapur area of ​​the city, a police official said.

He launched an operation to nab the smugglers after BSF’s intelligence wing and police informed about their presence in the area. On seeing the BSF, Sikandar Kumar tried to run away, the police officer said. However, all three of them were chased and captured.

The ganja recovered from them was wrapped in 36 packets. According to the police, he had brought ganja from Agartala by train. His intention was to take the consignment back to Patna by train. He was to be caught in a train in the afternoon, but was caught before he could leave. PLC/GT
