Rajeev Sharma , CMD REC inaugurated the REC zonal office (Eastern Zone), at plot no. Ib-186, Salt Lake, Sector-III. Kolkata, on 20.11.2014, in the presence of senior officers of the power utilities such as WBSEDCL, WBSETCL, WBPDCL, DVC and other distinguished guests and dignitaries of the Govt. of West Bengal. Shri P.J Thakkar. Director (Tech) and Shri Ashok Awasthi, ED (Esates/Admn) from REC corporate office were also present on this occasion.
REC is a leading Public Financial Institution in the Power Infrastructure space. The company commenced its operations in 1969 with the objective of financing rural electrification schemes to develop Power Infrastructure. Since then its mandate has expanded from energizing pumps sets to financing and promoting all segments of power sector projects throughout India covering power generation, transmission and distribution and renewable energy. Today REC sanctions loans to State Electricity Boards, Power Utilities, State Governments, Rural Electric Cooperatives, NGOs and private Power developers through a network of 13 Project offices and 5 Zonal Offices across India.
