San Bruno,: In a major milestone for crypto’s mainstream adoption, YouTube announced that U.S. creators can now receive their AdSense payouts in stablecoins, including USDC and USDT, enabling faster, lower-fee global transfers without traditional banking intermediaries. The feature integrates directly with Coinbase Wallet, offering an alternative payment rail to more than 2 million American creators who collectively earn over $30 billion annually on the platform.

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan called the rollout a moment of “crypto empowerment,” arguing that blockchain-based payouts will expand financial inclusion for creators who rely on rapid settlement cycles. The announcement immediately trended online under #YouTubeCrypto, exceeding 500,000 mentions within hours.

The move aligns with the Trump administration’s pro-crypto stance, reinforced by recent regulatory flexibility and a broader market upswing. Bitcoin surged to $95,000, boosting optimism across the digital economy and pushing more tech firms to adopt blockchain-based financial tools.

However, the shift is not without critics. U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren warned that expanding crypto payment options could increase exposure to financial volatility and complicate consumer protections. Regulators at the IRS are expected to tighten enforcement as blockchain-based payouts raise concerns about unreported income, tax evasion, and decentralized finance (DeFi) flows.

The update has also drawn significant attention in India, where more than 10 million creators generate content across YouTube, with many hoping similar crypto payout options will arrive soon. Analysts estimate that YouTube’s move could push up to $5 billion in annual creator payouts onto blockchain networks, strengthening DeFi adoption and encouraging fintech–creator economy partnerships.

The announcement arrives amid broader financial shifts following the U.S. Federal Reserve’s latest rate cuts, positioning crypto as an increasingly attractive asset class and settlement mechanism.

With the digital creator economy rapidly expanding, YouTube’s stablecoin integration marks one of the most consequential tech-finance crossovers of the decade—potentially reshaping how creators worldwide access and manage their income.
