New Delhi – The winter session of Parliament is likely to begin later this month on November 25 and may go on till December 20. According to reports, there will be a special event this time, in which MPs may meet in the old Parliament building for a day.
To mark the completion of 75 years of adoption of the Constitution, a joint session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be called on November 26. This special session will likely be held in the Central Hall of the old Parliament House, where the Indian Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949. This day is celebrated as Constitution Day, and the Indian Constitution came into full effect from January 26, 1950.
Interestingly, both the ruling NDA and the opposition alliance are trying to present themselves as the protectors of the Constitution. Both the BJP and the Congress leave no stone unturned to call each other the enemy of the Constitution. In this Lok Sabha election, the opposition tried to propagate the narrative that if the Modi government comes to power again, the Constitution will be in danger. At the same time, the Modi government announced to celebrate 25 June as Constitution Hatya Diwas in July this year, so that the dark days of the Emergency can be remembered.
Against this background, the discussions to be held in the upcoming Parliament session and the special session are likely to be very important this time.
