WHO Sounds Alarm on Contaminated Medicines: Urgent Recall Issued Across India

Public health officials are racing against time as the WHO announced an urgent recall for three batches of oral liquid medicines in India found to be contaminated. “Contaminated medicines can lead to serious, even fatal, side-effects,” warned Dr. Laxmi Menon, WHO’s India regional director.

The Ministry of Health has launched an immediate investigation and told citizens to verify their medicine batch numbers before use. Pharmacist Ramesh Kumar commented, “Vigilant customers are the first line of defense for public health.”

Experts urge tightening of pharmaceutical regulations and widespread awareness campaigns to prevent future tragedies. Patients experiencing unusual symptoms should seek medical attention at once.
