Krishna Janmashtami 2022 – : This time Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 18 August 2022. Ashtami Tithi will start on 18th August 2022 at 09:20 PM and will end on 19th August 2022 at 10:59 PM. Krishna Janmashtami 2022 is considered a very auspicious festival.

One of the important festivals celebrated in Hinduism is Shri Krishna Janmashtami which is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm not only in India but also in many other countries. Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna. This festival is celebrated every year on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. It is believed that Lord Krishna was born at midnight i.e. exactly 12 o’clock on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month.

The main objective of this incarnation of Narayan was to end the growing tyranny of King Kansa of Muthara and destroy it and also to establish religion on earth. For which he was born from the womb of Devaki, sister of Kansa. Many devotees also observe fasting on this day, in which fasting has to be done till midnight i.e. 12 o’clock till the birth of Krishna.

Those who observe a fast on the day of Janmashtami should take bath in the morning and make Sutika Griha for Mother Devaki. It should be decorated with flowers. The idol of Mother Devaki along with Bal Gopal should be installed in Sutika Griha. After this, worship of Devaki’s mother, Lord Shri Krishna, Yashoda Mata, Vasudeva and Mata Lakshmi should be done.

Keep these in the plate during the worship of Janmashtami:

Sandalwood/Kumkum, Rice, Ganges water, Misri, Butter, Gopi sandalwood, Deepak, Incense sticks, Camphor, Matches, Flowers, Peacock feathers

After bathing the idol of Lord Shri Krishna on this day, make him wear Pitambar i.e. yellow colored clothes and adorn him with yellow colored ornaments. After making up, swing them on the swing.

Those who observe a fast on this occasion should take bath at 11 o’clock in the night and worship Nandlal according to the scriptures. After 12 o’clock in the night, after the time of birth of Lord Krishna, he should be anointed with milk, curd, ghee, misri and Gangajal.
