Voters will not be prevented from voting if they do not have Aadhar Card

Voters will not be prevented from voting in the absence of Aadhar card. The Election Commission of India gave this assurance to a delegation of Trinamool Congress on Monday. The Commission said that voters will be able to vote by showing their Voter ID card or any other identity card.

Actually, before the Lok Sabha elections, many Aadhaar cards have become inactive in West Bengal. TMC leaders expressed concern over this, after which the Election Commission gave this assurance. A TMC delegation including Rajya Sabha leaders Sukhendu Shekhar Ray, Dola Sen and Saket Gokhale and Lok Sabha MPs Pratima Mandal and Sajda Ahmed met the Chief Election Commissioner and lodged a complaint against the alleged Raised the issue of inaction.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Ray said he raised his concerns over Aadhaar cards of thousands of people being deactivated or deleted in West Bengal without following due process of law. He said the Election Commission has assured that even if a person does not have Aadhaar, he will be allowed to vote with other valid documents.
