New Delhi / Washington, D.C.: The United States has offered its assistance in the ongoing investigation into the Delhi car blast, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio describing the incident as a “clearly terrorist attack” and lauding Indian authorities for their swift and professional response.
Rubio, addressing the media in Washington, said the US stands ready to provide any technical or intelligence support India may require, though he emphasized that New Delhi has demonstrated “remarkable professionalism and capability” in managing the probe independently.
“We have full confidence in India’s investigative process,” Rubio said. “Our offer of assistance comes from solidarity, not necessity. The professionalism shown by Indian agencies reflects a mature democracy equipped to handle such threats.”
The comments follow India’s confirmation that forensic and intelligence agencies have traced key leads in the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this week. The blast, which caused significant property damage but no casualties, is being probed under terror-related provisions by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Rubio’s statement marks one of the strongest public condemnations of the attack by a top US official since the incident. His remarks come amid a period of strengthening strategic ties between Washington and New Delhi, particularly following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Bhutan, which highlighted regional security cooperation and economic connectivity.
Diplomatic observers note that the US response underscores a deepening counterterrorism partnership between the two nations. “This is more than symbolic support — it signals shared intelligence priorities and growing defense alignment,” said Dr. Meera Krishnan, a foreign policy expert at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
The India–US Counterterrorism Working Group, which met earlier this year, has been focusing on improving information-sharing protocols, particularly concerning emerging threats in South and Central Asia. Officials say both countries have committed to jointly tackling terror financing and cyber-facilitated radicalization.
Meanwhile, Indian security agencies continue to examine possible foreign linkages behind the blast. Preliminary investigations have revealed traces of military-grade explosives, leading to heightened security across the capital.
While India has not formally sought international aid, officials have welcomed the US gesture as a sign of trust and partnership. As one senior diplomat in New Delhi noted, “The solidarity message from Washington reinforces the global consensus against terrorism in all its forms.”
