US Navy SEAL commandos are currently training to protect Taiwan from China. The US fears that the Chinese army can attack Taiwan at any time to capture it. In such a situation, the US does not want to take any chance, which may threaten the security of Taiwan. The US Navy SEALs killed Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan in 2011. China alleges that many instructors of the US Special Forces are already training the Taiwanese army in close combat and urban warfare, although the US has not commented on these allegations.
A Financial Times report quoted people familiar with the developments as saying that Seal Team 6 is training for a mission to support Taiwan if China tries to invade Taiwan. China claims Taiwan as its territory since independence and threatens to occupy it by using military power. Seal Team 6 is a tier one force and the second elite force in the US Army besides Delta Force.
According to the report, Seal Team 6 has been planning and training for the Taiwan conflict for more than a year at its headquarters Dam Neck in Virginia Beach. The preparations of Seal Team 6 have intensified significantly since 2021, when the US Indo-Pacific commander warned that China could attack Taiwan anytime in the next six years. ( PLC & GT )
