Washington, November 15 — The U.S. President Donald Trump has instructed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to launch a fresh review of recently leaked Jeffrey Epstein–related documents, claiming they contain politically sensitive links to prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton.
Trump described the matter as the “Epstein Hoax,” alleging that key details were withheld from the public and accusing his opponents of orchestrating a long-running cover-up. The directive, sources said, centers on newly surfaced files that reportedly reference high-profile individuals connected to the late financier’s network.
The move has sharply divided Washington. Critics argue the push is a politically motivated retaliation, aimed at undermining Trump’s rivals and reshaping public discourse ahead of his administration’s transition. Several Democratic lawmakers condemned the action as an attempt to weaponize the Justice Department for partisan goals.
Trump’s supporters, however, have welcomed the decision, insisting that the public deserves full transparency regarding Epstein’s associations, travel logs, and alleged trafficking operations. They argue that the leaked files should be independently verified and that “no name should be protected.”
The renewed scrutiny of the Epstein case adds to the already heightened political climate following the election. Analysts warn that reopening the dossier could inflame partisan tensions further, especially as the country heads into a sensitive transition period.
The DOJ has not yet disclosed the scope or timeline of the review, but officials said preliminary assessments of the leaked materials have begun. Whether the investigation leads to new revelations or becomes another flashpoint in America’s political divide remains to be seen.
