Prabhas’ upcoming pan-India film The Raja Saab is heading into its theatrical release with strong momentum, as industry watchers predict a powerful box office opening aided by a solo release window and the ongoing Sankranti holiday season.
The postponement of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has worked decisively in favor of The Raja Saab, allowing the film to enjoy near-uninterrupted screen availability across major markets. Trade analysts believe this advantage, combined with festive footfalls, could translate into a bumper opening day.
Day 1 Box Office Prediction (India – Net)
According to trade estimates, The Raja Saab is expected to open in the range of ₹50 crore to ₹76 crore net across India, placing it among the strongest openings for a Prabhas-led release.
Telugu Market Outlook
The Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are projected to drive the bulk of the opening-day numbers. Early estimates suggest a ₹45–50 crore net collection from AP/TG alone. The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a ticket price hike—up to ₹150 for single screens and ₹200 for multiplexes—which is expected to significantly boost gross collections during the initial run.
Hindi Market Estimate
In North India, the opening is expected to be comparatively moderate, with estimates ranging between ₹5–9 crore on Day 1. Trade circles note that sustained audience interest in Dhurandhar could limit the film’s initial traction in the Hindi belt.
Overseas Performance
Overseas markets are showing strong early indicators. The film has already collected approximately $1.75 million (around ₹14.5 crore) through advance pre-sales. On opening day, The Raja Saab is projected to record an overseas gross of ₹30 crore or more, driven by solid demand in the US, Gulf, and Australia.
Advance Booking Momentum
Advance bookings have remained robust, with millions of tickets already sold across domestic and international circuits. Following Vijay’s release delay, several shows initially allocated to Jana Nayagan have reportedly been reassigned to The Raja Saab, further strengthening its opening-day prospects.
Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 9, 2026, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
