The trailer for Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film “Jana Nayagan,” initially welcomed enthusiastically by fans as his final cinematic project before entering politics full-time, is now facing widespread online trolling due to perceived strong similarities with Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 2023 Telugu film “Bhagavanth Kesari.”

Social media users have compared specific scenes from the “Jana Nayagan” trailer to those in “Bhagavanth Kesari,” with many concluding that Vijay’s film follows a similar storyline. Several commenters preferred the original, urging others not to spend money on the new version.

One user stated, “Bhagavanth Kesari is available on YouTube, so don’t waste your money on Jana Nayagan. Watch original films in theaters instead.” Another remarked that Vijay’s film “could not compete with Bhagavanth Kesari in any aspect.” Numerous Telugu content creators have also criticised the trailer in their posts and videos.

“Bhagavanth Kesari” features Nandamuri Balakrishna as a former police officer who raises a girl named Vijji and aims to send her to the army, while confronting a villain linked to past enmity. Viewers have pointed out nearly identical narrative elements in the “Jana Nayagan” trailer.

“Jana Nayagan” is set for theatrical release on January 9. The film stars Bobby Deol as the antagonist, with Prakash Raj, Pooja Hegde, and Priyamani in significant supporting roles.
