Ten years rigorous imprisoment to then garrison engineer and five years rigorous imprisonment to an assistant garrison engineer, both of military engineering services in a bribery case

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Dehradun(Uttarakhand) has sentenced Lt.Colonel Bharat Joshi, the then Garrison Engineer, R&D, Military Engineering Services (Govt. of India), Dehradun to undergo ten years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with fine of Rs.55,000/- and Sh.Manish Singh, then Assistant Garrison Engineer, R&D, MES, Dehradun to undergo five years RI with fine of Rs.15,000/-. 

CBI had registered a case on 08.07.2016 against Lt.Colonel Bharat Joshi, the then Garrison Engineer, R&D, Military Engineering Services(Govt. of India), Dehradun. It was alleged that Lt.Colonel Bharat Joshi while posted as Garrison Engineer, had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.38,000/- from a Private Contractor for clearing his pending bills.

During investigation, the complicity of Sh.Manish Singh, the then Assistant Garrison Engineer, MES, Dehradun in the bribery case had also come to light.

After investigation, a chargesheet was filed before the Designated Court at Dehradun, on 5.9.2016 against both the accused. Charges were framed on 27.9.2017.
The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
