New Delhi | Breaking News | April 10, 2025:
In a major diplomatic and security breakthrough, Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key conspirator in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks, will land in New Delhi tomorrow. Escorted by a high-level NIA team, the accused is being extradited from the United States, ending a prolonged legal tug-of-war spanning years.

Extradition Confirmed, Formalities Completed

Sources confirmed that Rana will arrive in Delhi on Thursday morning, with top-level security in place. A joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) worked closely with US authorities for months to complete the extradition process.

All formal legal paperwork was submitted by Indian agencies, and the US court has officially cleared Rana’s handover to India.

US Supreme Court Rejects Rana’s Petition

Rana had filed a petition in the US Supreme Court, pleading that extradition to India would expose him to torture and inhumane treatment. However, the court rejected his plea, clearing the way for his return to India.

Rana’s Deep Involvement in the 26/11 Plot

  • Tahawwur Rana, originally from Pakistan, served in the Pakistan Army as a doctor for a decade.

  • He left the army and later became deeply involved in terror activities against India, working closely with David Coleman Headley.

  • Between 2006 and 2008, Rana helped Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islami orchestrate the 26/11 attack — one of the deadliest terror attacks in Indian history.

Remembering 26/11: A Nation Still Mourns

On November 26, 2008, 10 Pakistani terrorists arrived by sea and unleashed carnage across Mumbai, killing 166 innocent people and injuring over 300 others. The siege lasted three days, forever altering India’s national psyche.

🇮🇳 India’s Diplomatic Victory

This extradition marks a strong message against cross-border terrorism and proves India’s growing global influence in matters of national security. It’s also seen as a big win for the families of 26/11 victims, who have waited over a decade for justice.
