As per the decision of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the main campus of the South Asian University is being established in New Delhi and provision has been made for establishing specialized and/or multi-disciplinary centers of the University in other SAARC Member Countries.
The South Asian University will start functioning with the commencement of its first academic session in the last week of August 2010. The University invited applications for admission to the initial two courses that were offered for 2010-11, namely, Master of Arts in Development Economics and Master of Computer Applications.
US $ 239.93 million funds have been allocated for the period 2010-14. Funds released so far are US$0.756 million.
