Bangalore : The Karnataka Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution against NEET. The Congress’ Siddaramaiah government has said in the resolution that the NEET examination system is badly affecting the opportunities for medical education for poor children coming from rural areas. It not only makes the school education system ineffective, but also takes away the state’s right to admit students in medical colleges managed by the state government. Therefore, it is requested that this system be abolished.
Along with this, the resolution states that the Karnataka Legislative Council unanimously urges that the central government should immediately exempt the state from this examination and give medical admission to the students on the basis of the marks of the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the state government.
Decision in view of irregularities in examinations: In view of the repeated irregularities in NEET examinations, the Central Government should also make necessary amendments in the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 (Central Act 30, 2019) so that the NEET system is abolished at the national level.
