Legendary actress Shabana Azmi has officially joined the star-studded cast of “Awarapan 2,” the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2007 cult classic directed by Mohit Suri. At 74, the Padma Shri honoree will bring her immense gravitas to a pivotal mentor role, sharing screen space with Emraan Hashmi, who reprises his role as Shivam, and Disha Patani, the female lead. Producers Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series announced the casting via a teaser poster, heralding Azmi’s role as a key emotional anchor in this action-thriller.
This collaboration marks Shabana Azmi’s first project with Vishesh Films and her first on-screen pairing with Emraan Hashmi, creating fresh dramatic tension and high anticipation among audiences. The film, directed by Nitin Kakkar, was shot extensively in Bangkok and Mumbai, with filming recently wrapped and post-production underway for an April 3, 2026, release.
“Awarapan 2” aims to blend the intensity and emotional depth that defined the original, with Azmi’s presence elevating the film’s narrative complexity. Celebrated for her work in films like Arth and Fire, Azmi’s seamless move into a commercial thriller signals Bollywood’s embrace of intergenerational talent and storytelling depth.
