Paris : The eyes of the whole world are fixed on the Paris Olympic Games. More than 10 thousand athletes from 206 countries of the world have reached the capital of France. France is responsible for the security of these players. Meanwhile, a Russian citizen living in the French capital for the last 14 years has been arrested on suspicion of plotting to disrupt the Paris Olympics 2024. This information has been given by local media. The 40-year-old man, a former reality TV star trained at a culinary school in Paris, claimed to disrupt the opening ceremony of the Olympics, after which he was arrested on July 21.

Evidence has been found from his house that the man was involved in the conspiracy. Along with this, the newspaper said that according to several European intelligence services, a map of an elite Russian special forces unit operating under the command of the FSB was found from his house.
Intelligence services had listened to a conversation between the man and a Russian intelligence service operative two months ago, in which the suspect said that “France is going to hold an opening ceremony like never before.”
On July 23, a judicial investigation was launched into intelligence collusion with a foreign power for the purpose of inciting hostility in France and the arrested man was indicted the same day and remanded in custody. According to the prosecutor’s office, he could face 30 years in prison.
30,000 policemen will be present during the Olympics
The Olympic Games are being held despite the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas conflict.
According to the report, about 30,000 police officers and policemen will roam the streets of Paris every day during the Olympics, as the capital’s police will deploy all its resources to prevent various threats ranging from terrorist attacks to cybercrime.
1 million people will be screened
Microsoft told the French intelligence agency last month that Russia was running some fake websites related to the Olympics. Attempts are being made to spread violence and terror with the help of Artificial Intelligence. This is why France has decided to screen about 10 lakh people before the Paris Olympics.
