Kyiv, November 12: Russia launched an unprecedented aerial assault on Ukraine early Tuesday, deploying over 450 drones and missiles across multiple regions, including Kharkiv, Kyiv, Poltava, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. The strikes targeted energy infrastructure and residential areas, causing widespread blackouts and leaving at least seven civilians dead in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainian defense officials confirmed that the majority of projectiles were successfully intercepted, but the attack nonetheless disrupted power supply to millions and damaged critical facilities, including power grids and communication networks.
Authorities reported localized destruction in residential neighborhoods, with emergency crews working overnight to restore services and assist affected families. The strikes highlight escalating tensions in the conflict, as Russia appears to intensify efforts to weaken Ukraine’s energy capabilities ahead of winter.
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks, calling them “a deliberate attempt to terrorize civilians and cripple essential services.” Ukrainian air defense units continue to monitor incoming threats, while international observers express concern over rising civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.
Security analysts note that such coordinated drone and missile attacks reflect Moscow’s growing focus on hybrid tactics, combining high-tech aerial assaults with conventional artillery strikes. Ukrainian authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols during air raid alerts.
