Rotary Club of Chandigarh honoured five citizens for going beyond the call of their duty. The Vocational Service Awards was given to Dr. Anuradha Sharma who is doctorate in Chemistry, working as Associate Professor in Government College Sector 11, founded ‘Hamari Kaksha’ in 2003 to teach the underprivileged children, and today it has been providing surrogate parenting to nearly 700 children in its five branches.Constable Anuj Kumar posted at Sukhna Lake, showed exemplary character by returning lost money and other valuables to the owners who had lost them at lake.
Fireman Sunil Kumar posted at Fire Station Sector 11, showed exemplary character and courage by rescuing many passerbys at dividing road of Sector 23-24 near Hotel Parkview where a loaded container of chlorine on a heavy vehicle burst. The area was covered with thick chlorine gas and he took immediate action to dispose off the container and protect the people and save their lives.
Ramandeep Kaur Nursing Sister Grade 2 working at PGIMER, was honoured for her selfless service in the area of promotion of organ donation.
