The Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari released a book entitled “Resurgent India – Glimpses of Rajiv Gandhi’s Vision of India” authored by Shri P.D.T. Achary, former Secretary General of Lok Sabha at a function here today. The book is an endeavour to discover the true significance of the multi-faceted contributions of late Shri Rajiv Gandhi in different areas of national life. Addressing on the occasion, Shri Ansari said that this book is a timely and relevant book. He dwelt upon the categories of historians and said that the writing about contemporary history is a difficult job. He said that the book gives the readers glimpses into the vision, ideas and action of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. There are very interesting annexure in the book which will be very beneficial for all those interested in contemporary politics.
The Vice President opined that Shri Rajiv Gandhi was a visionary who wished to see India transformed into a modern and developed nation state based on the principles of secularism and democracy. He was a true democrat, who believed in pluralism and tolerance, so essential in a diverse country like ours. He was a popular leader who led the country through an important transitional phase in our country’s history.
He said that the book will provide valuable information on the multi-faceted contributions of a young and dynamic Prime Minister and will be a useful reading for all interested in contemporary history of our country.
