Putin calls India a Great country and advocates for global superpower status

Sochi – Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again praised India and said that cooperation between India and Russia is constantly growing. Putin described India as a great country and said that keeping in mind India’s economic progress and its vastness, it should be included in the list of global superpowers. Putin said this during his address at a program called Valdai Discussion Club in the Russian city of Sochi.

Putin said in his address that ‘We are developing our relations with India in various fields. India is a great country. It is also prominent among large economies in terms of economic growth. Its GDP is growing at a rate of 7.4 percent. Cooperation between Russia and India is growing every year.’ Putin talked about Russia’s relations with India since the time of the Soviet Union and described the relations between the two countries as very special. Putin said that the Soviet Union also played a role in India’s independence.

The Russian President said that India and Russia are also increasing cooperation in the defense sector. He said that the Indian forces have many Russian weapons. This shows the trust between the two countries. We not only sell our weapons to India but we also design them together. It is worth noting that India and Russia have jointly developed the Brahmos missile. Brahmos has been named Brahmos by combining the names of India’s Brahmaputra and Russia’s Moskva river. This missile has been jointly developed by India’s DRDO and Russia’s NPO.
