Priyanka Gandhi Faces 3 FIRs and Combined ₹77 Crore Assets with Robert Vadra

Wayanad – Priyanka Gandhi has declared three pending FIRs against her from the years 2019, 2022, and 2023, which include charges under IPC Sections 420, 469, 188, 269, 270, and Sections 9 and 15 of the Wildlife Protection Act. The Congress General Secretary is contesting her first election from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. she filed her election affidavit, revealing that she and her husband Robert Vadra collectively own movable and immovable assets worth ₹77.55 crores.

According to the affidavit, Priyanka possesses ₹4.25 crore in movable assets, which includes ₹52,000 in cash, ₹3.67 lakh in three bank accounts, mutual fund investments worth ₹2.25 crores, and gold and silver valued at ₹1.45 crores. She has also declared ₹7.74 crores in immovable assets, which include four acres of inherited agricultural land in New Delhi, jointly owned with her brother Rahul Gandhi, and a residential property worth ₹5.64 crores in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi’s total declared assets stand at ₹11.99 crores. Apart from these, she has liabilities amounting to ₹15.75 lakhs. Her husband Robert Vadra has movable assets worth ₹37.92 crores, including ₹2.18 lakh in cash, and immovable assets worth ₹27.64 crores, totaling ₹65.56 crores. His immovable assets include four commercial properties in Gurgaon and Noida. Vadra also has liabilities of ₹10.03 lakhs.

Priyanka has not declared any assets or liabilities for dependents. Recently, Rahul Gandhi declared a total of ₹20.4 crores in assets for the Lok Sabha elections, including ₹9.25 crores in movable and ₹11.15 crores in immovable properties.

Priyanka Gandhi’s Income Sources

Priyanka’s income sources include rental income, interest from banks, and investments, while Vadra’s income comes from rent, business ventures, and investments. In 2012-13, the Income Tax Department initiated reassessment proceedings against Priyanka, passing an order in 2019, demanding ₹15.75 lakhs. An appeal is currently pending before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), with ₹3.15 lakhs of the tax demand already paid. Refunds for subsequent years were adjusted, bringing the total outstanding amount to ₹11.12 lakhs.

Highest Income in 2019-20 Over Five Years

According to Priyanka’s income tax returns, her total income for 2023-24 was ₹46.39 lakhs. Over the past five years, her highest income was ₹69.32 lakhs in 2019-20, while her lowest was ₹19.89 lakhs in 2020-21.

The Income Tax Department also initiated reassessment proceedings against Vadra for amounts ranging from ₹2.39 crores to ₹24.16 crores between 2010-11 and 2020-21. Appeals have been filed, and the cases are pending with CAT. Additionally, the department issued a demand of ₹1.8 crores in 2015-16, which is also under appeal.

For 2023-24, Vadra reported a total income of ₹15.09 lakhs in his tax returns. His highest income in the past five years was ₹55.58 lakhs in 2019-20, while his lowest was ₹9.04 lakhs in 2021-22.
